Mental Health
The mental health program provides professional intervention and counseling for children and young adults residing in public housing who are struggling with behavioral health issues. The Nabe’s Case Manager, an individual of color with a background in psychology or substance abuse counseling, acts as a trusted bridge between patients of color and therapists of color in several ways:
Identifying children in need of help by working with the Nabe’s youth program leaders.
Leading outreach efforts and development of a pool of certified mental health clinicians of color who can provide one-on-one treatment for the more difficult cases.
Supporting children and their families during the in-take process, therapy appointments, and post-therapy treatment plans.
